Nate White

Music Director/Conductor

Nate White was appointed conductor of Essex County Summer Players Orchestra in 2018.  He is well-known in the greater NJ area as a freelance double bassist and private teacher.  He is a graduate of the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. There he studied double bass with Linda McKnight and conducting with Paul Hostetter.

In 2008, Nate founded the Freelance Ensemble Artists of NJ with the purpose of extending more professional performance experience to young student musicians. He serves as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the FEA Symphony, performing each summer in Maplewood and Plainfield, NJ.

A gifted soloist, Nate has performed solo concerti with orchestras including New Jersey Youth Symphony, Philharmonic Orchestra of NJ, Doctor’s Society Orchestra of NY and Montclair State University Symphony. In 1999, he won Grand Prize at the NJ ASTA State Solo Competition and in 2008 he won the Montclair State University Concerto Competition. Nate frequently performs with Allentown Symphony, Garden State Philharmonic, Bravura Philharmonic, Staten Island Philharmonic, South Orange Symphony, Eastern Wind Symphony, and Garden State Jazz Orchestra.
